PACEY has responded to the Government’s
consultation on the new Early Years Pupil Premium (EYPP)
funding, calling for more support for the full range of childcare
The EYPP will be £300 per child per year,
given to providers who already offer free early education places
for each eligible 3 and 4 year old in their setting from April
2015. According to the Government’s proposals, children from
low-income families or those who are or have recently been in care
will be eligible.
Although PACEY welcomes the additional funding
and believes it can make a difference to disadvantaged children, we
have called for the amount of the EYPP to be increased, and
for the Government to work with us more closely so that the
EYPP and childcare funding works and is worthwhile for the full
range of childcare providers.
