PACEY has today
responded to Ofsted’s consultation on their proposals for a new
common inspection framework across all stages of education, which
if taken forward will be introduced from September 2015. We were
extremely grateful for the contribution of more than 500 PACEY
members who responded to our survey about these changes, and hope
many of you also shared your views directly with Ofsted.
Using the responses to our survey, we make a
number of recommendations for Ofsted in the response, including for
them to:
- Clearly define what British values mean for
the early years
- Keep children’s happiness and wellbeing in
the inspection criteria
- Commit to bringing early years inspections
in-house as soon as possible
- Improve quality assurance of early years
inspectors, to ensure consistency
Looking ahead, PACEY will be speaking directly
to Ofsted on your behalf to understand how the new framework will
apply to the early years. As part of our survey we also asked for
the contact details of any members willing to speak to Ofsted about
these proposals in more detail, and we will share them with Ofsted
shortly.
