I CAN, the children’s communication charity have now
launched their annual early years sing-a-long event, the Chatterbox
Challenge.
Chatterbox Challenge 2015: Garden
Adventures with Ben & Holly is supported by Entertainment
One’s (eOne) popular children’s TV show, Ben and Holly’s Little
Kingdom.
The special fundraising event helps to develop
children’s communication skills by learning songs based on
children’s surroundings. There is also a range of activities
involved to help strengthen their development.
Children perform the themed songs at a
sponsored Chatterbox Challenge show in front of parents
and carers. All fundraising goes towards I CAN’s work with the one
million children in the UK who struggle to communicate.
How do I get involved?
Chatterbox Challenge Week, when the
majority of events will be held, is 9-15th February
2015.
Register now at Chatterbox
Challenge to receive your free fundraising pack.
Each activity pack is linked to the Early
Years Foundation Stage (EYFS) for England and Foundation
Phase (Wales) helping to develop a range of skills
including attention and listening, one of the early learning
goals.
What do others say about Chatterbox Challenge?
Previous Chatterbox Challenge
participant and the top 2014 fundraiser Tracy Telfer from Little
Acorns Nursery in Atherton said, “We are all really looking forward
to this year’s Chatterbox Challenge. We had such a
fantastic time at our Challenge event last year and raised
over £1700 for I CAN. We cannot wait to register and start learning
the songs for this year’s performance!”
Supporting children with speech, language and communication
needs
It’s important to understand how children
acquire language and recognise why some children have speech,
language and communication needs. Here at PACEY we have a fantastic
free SLCN training course available for members to support you
in this.
Check out our practice guide on
Supporting Children’s Language Development and a lovely
Communication video that visits the settings of several
childcare professionals to see how they support children’s
communication.
We also have a range of I
CAN products in the PACEY shop including ‘Learning to talk,
talking to learn’ and ‘Babbling Babies.’
