SEND childcare amendments

PACEY has today offered its support to draft amendments to the Childcare Payments Bill, proposed by the Family and Childcare Trust which will make it easier for parents of disabled children to access childcare. The amendments include

  • Proposals for a programme of pilots to enable parents of disabled children to access childcare and return to work;
  • Making 18 the maximum age of eligibility for the childcare support in the Bill (including tax-free childcare and the new Universal Credit), to bring it in line with other support for disabled children;
  • Improving the flexibility of tax-free childcare and the childcare element of Universal Credit for parents of disabled children.

MPs will consider these amendments in the House of Commons tomorrow (21 October 2014); for more information about the Childcare Payments Bill visit the Parliament UK website.
