New home-based childcare qualification with free PACEY membership

This September childcare professionals across the country are beginning their studies for a new dedicated qualification to boost their expertise in home-based childcare settings.

The CACHE Level 3 Award, ‘Preparing to Work in Home-Based Childcare’, has been developed in conjunction with us here at PACEY. It aims to attract new entrants to home-based childcare professions and to bolster the expertise of existing practitioners working in domestic settings.

We’re offering a six-month free learner membership offer to childcare professionals who register for the qualification. This offers all the benefits of membership including an up-to-date and growing portfolio of EYFS related training and CPD resources and access to a health and wellbeing helpline.

The CACHE Level 3 Award in Preparing to Work in Home-Based Childcare will support learners looking to operate in a home-based childcare setting as a registered childminder, childminding assistant, nanny or au pair.

Supported and assessed online, learners can complete the qualification whilst balancing work and family life commitments. The assessment criteria are set by CACHE and the qualification can provide a starting point for progression to the CACHE Early Years Educator qualification.

The qualification provides around 50 online learning hours and has been developed by experts in home-based childcare.

It is made up of two units and will support learners in preparing for registration and inspection, provide practical advice on setting up a home-based childcare business and support learners to understand and implement the EYFS.

The cost is £219.60 with an early bird 10% discount for all students enrolling until September 30th. ***Offer now expired***

Liz Bayram, Chief Executive at PACEY, said:

‘We know that home based childcare settings provide invaluable support to families across the country. Yet at the moment we’re seeing an increasing government focus on school-based nurseries as the main solution for parents looking for high quality early years support.

‘It is vital that we continue to provide robust support to help attract new entrants to home-based childcare settings, which we know are first choice for so many parents. We hope this qualification will do this as well as helping existing home-based practitioners to raise their level of care and expand their business models.

‘We have received a strong level of interest in the course so far and look forward to welcoming new entrants over the months ahead.’

Julie Hyde, Executive Director, CACHE, said:

"We are delighted to welcome the first students onto this new qualification at a time when there is increased demand by families for home-based childcare. This qualification will not only provide opportunities for people wishing to set-up, or work within, home-based childcare settings, but also a good grounding for those interested in our Early Years Education qualifications.’
