New student and nursery setting memberships

Here at PACEY we're expanding our membership offer to early years students and whole nursery settings.

The student membership is intended to help support childcare and early years students in their studies and as they move into full-time work as childcare professionals.

The membership offer for nursery settings will help to provide vital training support for managers and staff at a time when local authority training and quality improvement support for registered settings is decreasing.

Recent research conducted by PACEY found that nursery settings are concerned about their ability to retain and motivate staff and improve or retain their Ofsted rating. They also wish to ensure that staff can continuously improve as professionals, at the same time as devising creative ideas to support children’s learning.

The new nursery team membership offer provides childcare settings with an easy and accessible way to help their staff access training support.

The PACEY Nursery Team membership will include:

  • Easy access to an up-to-date and growing portfolio of EYFS related training and CPD resources;
  • A Professional Standards approach to CPD that encourages individual members to regularly reflect on their practice;
  • Online and face-to-face opportunities to meet other childcare professionals to share ideas and gain peer-to-peer support;
  • Staff access to a range of added value benefits including PACEY’s 24/7 health and wellbeing helpline and its legal helpline, to aid recruitment and retention.

The PACEY Student membership is the first of its kind in childcare and recognises that early years students represent the next generation of childcare professionals.

Only available through colleges, PACEY Student membership will include:

  • Easy access to PACEY’s digital training resources to help students with their studies;
  • An increased understanding of the early years sector that students have chosen to work in;
  • Support in helping students prepare for work placements and applying for their first job as a childcare professional.

Liz Bayram, PACEY Chief Executive, said:

“I am delighted we can now support individuals at the very start of their childcare career as PACEY Student members and, in response to requests from nurseries, offer nursery teams PACEY membership.  Owners and managers can now buy PACEY membership for their staff, which is a great way to help retain and develop their employees.

“Childcare professionals recognise that signing up to PACEY and our Professional Standards demonstrates a personal commitment to high quality – to parents, employers and other professionals.

“18 months ago PACEY began offering more support to more childcare professionals than ever before, helping all of them to deliver high standards of care and learning. We improved our range of CPD, peer support and other benefits and welcomed nursery workers into membership for the first time, alongside our valued childminder and nanny members.”

Penny Tassoni, PACEY President, said:

“It is great that PACEY is offering a wide range of different membership packages. The online training, support and information on offer can now be accessed by more people than ever before. As a former lecturer on early years and childcare courses, I am particularly excited by our student membership offer that runs in conjunction with colleges.”

Emma Battersby, who is a trustee of PACEY and owns Flutterbies Quality Childcare in Rotherham, said:

“We know it is difficult for our staff to find time to train and reflect on their practice, so we are pleased that PACEY nursery team membership will help us to support staff to do this more.”

Ioan Morgan, Interim Principal and Chief Executive at Lewisham and Southwark College, said:

“As one of London’s premier colleges, Lewisham and Southwark College is delighted to be working in partnership with PACEY and we welcome their support and leadership in the early years sector. Indeed, we are particularly excited about the benefits that their brand new student membership service will be able to provide for our early years students.”
