PACEY launches its largest ever survey

The survey is aimed at everyone working in childcare and the early years, from registered childminders to owners of large nurseries, and has been designed to provide a snapshot of what it’s really like to work in childcare ahead of the forthcoming General Election.

We’ll ask you about a number of topics in the survey including how you perceive your own role, your attitudes to professional development and how supported you feel by government bodies, including Ofsted.

PACEY will publish the results of the survey in a report and the end of March, and your responses will help us in representing the sector in its call for improvements to qualifications, funding and regulation.

Please note that this survey is only open to childcare providers working in England. Those in Wales have another survey which is currently open for them – follow this link for the Welsh survey (link no longer available)

Speaking about the survey, Chief Executive Liz Bayram said:

“Discussions around childcare, whether in the media or amongst policy makers, invariably revolve around the cost to parents. PACEY knows childcare cost is a key issue for families but so is the quality of the care their children receive. We will be taking an in-depth look at the state of the sector itself. In this survey we are asking childcare professionals about their experiences, as well as what they believe should be the main priorities for a future administration to tackle.

“PACEY is committed to supporting a high quality childcare workforce, and we can only do that if we listen to the professionals working in settings day in and day out. Many of our members tell us they feel undervalued and unrecognised for the important job they do. Through this survey we can build a unique and detailed picture of what it’s like to work in the childcare sector in this country today, and identify the main challenges that front-line professionals face in providing high quality childcare and learning to children. We will use the results to represent the voice of the sector to policy makers before and after the General Election.”

The survey should only take about 15 minutes, and at the end of the questions there are chances to discuss the survey with us as well as enter into a prize draw for 1 of 3 £50 Love2shop vouchers! We’re working fast, so the survey closes at 5pm on 24 February.
