Download PACEY's guidance on responding to the review

Childcare Minister Sam Gyimah has announced a cross-government review on the costs of providing childcare. To support this, a call for evidence has been launched by the Department for Education that will gather information about the cost of delivering childcare places. We've put together some guidance to help you if you would like to respond separately.

The call for evidence will close on 10 August and will report in the autumn.

PACEY looks forward to hearing your views to help provide our response to the consultation and we will send you further details in due course.

Liz Bayram, Chief Executive of the Professional Association for Childcare and Early Years, said:

"It is excellent news that the Government has recognised calls from the sector to review the level of funding for delivering the early education entitlement.

"PACEY met with the Childcare Minister this week to share our members’ concerns not only about the level of funding, but about other barriers our members can face in delivering the free entitlement. These include inflexible payment processes in some local authorities, the impact of delays in payment and the variation in rates between different authorities.

"We also spoke to him about the need to look again at the issue of funding for related children – this is a barrier that does not exist for nurseries, and should be addressed for childminders, too.

"We will continue to work hard with government to ensure this review not only addresses these concerns, but also considers how to better link funding levels to quality drivers and establish new levers that government may need to enforce the review’s findings."
