We’re supporting the Family and Childcare Trust in its new campaign, Investing in Flexible Childcare.
The Family and Childcare Trust has launched a campaign with a petition calling on the Government to reaffirm its commitment to parents to help them with childcare costs. It suggests the £535 million savings from the delay to the roll out of Tax Free Childcare should be invested in a capital spending programme to make childcare more flexible.
The call to action comes as the Government considers how it will fund its ambitious plans to expand free childcare for three and four year olds to 30 hours a week from 2017. Too many parents cannot access the existing 15 hours of free childcare because they are offered only at certain times of the day or do not fit into their working patterns.
The Family and Childcare Trust wants the savings from the delay to Tax Free Childcare - £535 million - be used to make sure childcare settings are able to offer existing and expanded free hours of childcare at times when working parents need them.
PACEY is supporting the campaign with Liz Bayram, PACEY chief executive adding her signature to the petition and PACEY joining the social media Thunderclap message.
We want to further raise awareness of this petition and urge our members to sign to show their support. You can help the campaign by signing the petition here.
