Your views on the Childcare Bill

Following the second reading debate of the Childcare Bill in Parliament on 25 November, the bill is now moving rapidly through Parliament. The next stage is for the bill to be debated in more detail by a smaller number of interested MPS during the committee stage. This will take place between 8 and 15 December.

Early years providers have been invited to have their say on the Childcare Bill and will need to submit their views in writing by 5.00pm on 15 December.

The Childcare Bill sets out a number of proposals including:

working parents (who earn no more than £100,000 each per year and work a minimum of 16 hours a week) of three- and four-year olds will have an ‘extended entitlement’ to an additional 15 hours of free childcare for 38 weeks of the year
local authorities will have a duty to publish information about childcare and related matters
