A fun filled, informative day was had by all who attended the PACEY Cymru conference on the 3rd October in Llandrindod Wells on the theme of ‘Play and Development in the Early Years’ in October, we would like to thank all those who attended. Key sessions included;
CSSIW provided an update and question and answer session on upcoming changes and challenges following the announcement by Welsh Government in late September on the extension to the upper age limit for the registration of childcare provision from 8 to 12 years from April 2016. This generated a huge amount of discussion (see here for further information on this).
Sports Wales provided a taster of further training being developed in partnership with PACEY Cymru and other childcare organisations over the coming months around Physical Literacy. The free resource packs provided were especially well received.
Key updates were given on PACEY's work from the Wales team, around our Cwlwm work (read more here), member benefits, resources, PACEY website and members area and PACEY Local. Amanda Calloway, PACEY Board Member also gave an insight into her role.
PACEY Cymru also piloted their new ‘Play with Lego®’ workshop, which was well received and will now be marketed on a local level across Wales. Watch out for an article on this in an upcoming edition of ‘Childcare Professional’.
100% of those who attended rated the conference as good or excellent overall and we would like to thank everyone who gave up their time and contributed to discussions to ensure the event was the huge success that it was.
‘I enjoyed the session from Sports Wales and the updates from PACEY and CSSIW were very informative. I will use the information to update my policies and will take on board all I have learnt to improve my service. A very interesting conference!’ childminder, Wales.
