National Living Wage – are you ready?

As of 1st April 2016, the new National Living Wage comes into effect. This means anyone working in the UK, aged 25 and over, is legally entitled to at least £7.20 per hour.

It doesn’t matter how big or small your childcare business is, if you employ anyone you will have to pay them the Living Wage.

The minimum wage rate varies according to worker’s age and whether they are an apprentice - be sure to check that your staff are earning the correct amount.

If you are employing assistants or have staff, PACEY advises that you check their eligibility. You can do this via the employment status page on as well as watch a series of tutorials which provide practical information about implementing the national living wage.

The Government has published a raft of information about the National Living Wage to help employers and employees understand the changes, including the new rates of pay. PACEY members can visit for more information.
