The Department for Education has published the latest childcare and early years survey of parents, which looks at parents' use, views and experience of childcare and early years provision in England.

Minister Robert Goodwill announced today that the 30 hours offer will be extented to foster carers. Details will be released in due course.

Welsh Government publishes 10 year Childcare, Play and Early Years Workforce Plan

The Welsh Government has published their 10 year Childcare, Play and Early Years workforce plan focusing delivery on three key themes of attracting high quality new entrants to the sector, raising standards and skills across the sector; and investing in building capacity and capability across the sector to support economic growth and sustainability.

Government plan to improve social mobility through education

The Government in England has released a national plan to support children and young people to reach their full potential. The new plan 'Unlocking Talent, Fulfilling Potential' was unveiled by Education Secretary Justine Greening aims to have social mobility at the heart of education policy.

Additional Learning Needs Bill

The Welsh Government have announced today that the Additional Learning Needs and Education Tribunal (Wales) Bill has been passed by the Welsh Assembly.  This follows on from PACEY Cymru supporting work on the content of this bill over the past year.

Welsh Government change in guidance

PACEY Cymru have been disappointed to learn that Welsh Government have changed the guidance to the Childcare Offer for parents who wish to use a registered childminder who is also a relative.  This change means that childminders in Wales are now in a similar position to childminders in England where they are unable to provide funded childcare for related children.  PACEY Cymru will be working closely with policy colleagues in England to lobby on this issue and call for a change to the law.
