Childcare vouchers extended

The Government has agreed to delay the scrapping of the childcare voucher scheme for at least another six months. The scheme was due to be closed to new entrants from 6 April 2018. The change was made following a debate on the issue in the House of Commons during which MPs from all parties voiced opposition to the scheme’s closure.

Education secretary Damian Hinds announced the change during a debate in the House of Commons stating "I have heard the concerns that have been raised about this and the timing, and I can confirm that we will be able to keep the voucher scheme open for a further six months to new entrants."
