Please take time to watch the ITV regional news tonight from 6pm as they are reporting on the decline in registered childminding. PACEY and some of our members have taken part to highlight some of the key issues facing the profession. The number of registered childminders in England has been in decline for some time and PACEY has launched our 21st Century Childminding Inquiry to tackle this growing crisis.
This evening, ITV news will be reporting on the complex reasons why this decline is happening and hears from local PACEY members about how challenging they have found becoming childminders. PACEY Chief Executive, Liz Bayram calls for the next government to increase early education funding and make childminding financially sustainable; to review the Ofsted registration process, as it takes too long and is putting people off becoming a childminder, and for national and local government to do more to help parents and carers understand the unique benefits of the childminding profession.
