NEWS: Early years ministerial portfolios confirmed in reshuffle

After a reshuffle, the Department for Education have confirmed the new ministerial portfolios. Vicky Ford MP has been appointed as Parliamentary Under Secretary of State for Children and Families. She will be in charge of early years policy including funding while Nick Gibb MP continues as Minster of State for School Standards with responsibility for early education curriculum and teaching. 

The team now consists of:

  • Education Secretary Gavin Williamson will continue to have overall responsibility for the Department for Education.
  • Nick Gibb will continue as Minister of State for School Standards. Under early years Nick Gibb is responsible for early education curriculum and teaching quality. 
  • Michelle Donelan takes on a new portfolio and has been appointed as Minister of State for Universities.
  • Vicky Ford has been appointed as Parliamentary Under Secretary of State for Children and Families. Under early years Vicky Ford is responsible for special education needs (including high needs funding), early years policy and childcare including funding, providers, workforce, children's centres, home learning environment and childcare entitlements.
  • Gillian Keegan has been appointed as the Parliamentary Under Secretary of State for Apprenticeships and Skills.
  • Baroness Berridge has been appointed as Parliamentary Under Secretary of State for the School System.
