NEWS: Thank you to childcare workers in Wales / Diolch i weithwyr gofal plant yng Nghymru

Darllenwch hyn yn Gymraeg yma.

Children of all ages and their parents have come together to say a big “#Diolch” to the people that work in the early years, childcare and playwork sectors in a WeCare Wales video.

As parents across the country juggle working from home with caring for their children, there is increased respect and admiration for early years, childcare and playwork employees who help our children learn, play and develop.

The video has been produced by WeCare Wales, with support from PACEY Cymru, to give the workforce a morale boost and let them know just how much they are missed, as most settings – except those caring for children of keyworkers – remain closed.

Children and parents were asked to submit their videos for a chance to give childminders, nurseries and playwork officers a shout out. More than 30 videos from across Wales were sent in from toddlers, younger and older children with their parents following a call out on social media.

It is hoped the video will show the appreciation and need for people to work in early years, childcare and playwork.

The sector has not only been vital to the country’s response to the COVID-19 outbreak but will also help rebuild the nation as parents return to work and children need care after lockdown.

Julie Morgan, Deputy Minister for Health and Social Services said:

“I’d like to add my wholehearted thanks to those of the children and parents in the film.  Childcare practitioners are absolutely key in our ability to respond to Covid19 and you’ve truly risen to the challenge with great commitment and drive.

“As a nation we are incredibly grateful for all you have done and continue to do. Thank you.”

Mae plant o bob oedran a’u rhieni wedi dod ynghyd i ddweud “#Diolch” i’r bobl sy’n gweithio yn y sectorau blynyddoedd cynnar, gofal plant a gwaith chwarae mewn fideo gan Gofalwn Cymru.

Tra bod rhieni ledled y wlad yn ceisio cydbwyso gweithio gartref â gofalu am eu plant, mae’r parch a’r edmygedd tuag at weithwyr blynyddoedd cynnar, gofal plant a gwaith chwarae, sy’n helpu ein plant i ddysgu, chwarae a datblygu, ar gynnydd.

Cynhyrchwyd y fideo gan Gofalwn Cymru, gyda chefnogaeth gan PACEY Cymru, i roi hwb i forâl y gweithlu a rhoi gwybod iddynt faint rydym yn eu colli, tra bod y rhan fwyaf o leoliadau – ac eithrio’r rheini sy’n gofalu am blant gweithwyr allweddol – yn dal i fod ar gau.

Gofynnwyd i blant a rhieni gyflwyno eu fideos a chanu clodydd gwarchodwyr plant, meithrinfeydd a swyddogion gwaith chwarae. Cafodd mwy na 30 o fideos eu hanfon i mewn gan fabanod, plant iau a phlant hŷn â’u rhieni o bob cwr o Gymru yn dilyn galwad ar y cyfryngau cymdeithasol.

Y gobaith yw y bydd y fideo yn dangos gwerthfawrogiad ac yn cyfleu’r angen i bobl weithio yn y meysydd blynyddoedd cynnar, gofal plant a gwaith chwarae.

Mae’r sector wedi bod yn hanfodol i ymateb y wlad i’r argyfwng COVID-19, ond bydd hefyd yn helpu i ailadeiladu’r genedl wrth i rieni ddychwelyd i’r gwaith, pan fydd angen gofal ar blant ar ôl y cloi mawr.

Dywedodd Julie Morgan, y Dirprwy Weinidog dros Iechyd a Gwasanaethau Cymdeithasol:

“Hoffwn ychwanegu fy niolch at beth ddwedodd y plant a’r rhieni yn y ffilm.  Mae ymarferwyr gofal plant yn hollol allweddol i’n gallu i ymateb i COVID-19 ac rydych chi wedi ateb yr her gydag ymrwymiad ac ymdrech arbennig.

“Rydym yn hynod o ddiolchgar fel gwlad am bopeth rydych chi wedi’i wneud ac yn parhau i’w wneud. Diolch.”
