NEWS: Self-isolation in England reduced to 7 days following negative LFD tests

The Government in England has announced that those isolating due to testing positive for coronavirus ‘in most cases’ may be able to stop isolating after 7 days, instead of 10.

NEWS: Update on childminder rules and testing of under-fives in England

NEWS: Government introduces daily testing for coronavirus contacts

Yesterday (14 December) the Government in England introduced a new approach for daily testing of coronavirus contacts, (whether the case is Omicron or a different variant). This means that some people will be advised to test daily with rapid tests. Previously, close contacts of an Omicron case were required to isolate regardless of their vaccination status.

NEWS: What 'Plan B' means for early years and childcare in England

Yesterday (8 December) The Prime Minister in England announced that we are moving into ‘Plan B’ of the Covid-19 Autumn and Winter plan, in response to the spread of the coronavirus Omicron variant.  

PACEY met with Department for Education officials this afternoon to discuss the changes that have been made to the Government guidance for Early Years settings in England and what this move to Plan B means for our members.

NEWS: Omicron - Further advice for childminders in England

Following the temporary measures announced in response to the Omicron variant, PACEY sought clarification from the Department for Education on how the new variant will affect childminding settings in England.  We have outlined further advice for PACEY members on travel restrictions and quarantine and what to do if a childminder or their household member is identified as a close contact of an Omicron case.

NEWS: Covid-19 testing reminder

The DfE is reminding settings in England to continue testing over the festive break. The DfE has also warned of a fake email scam which asks settings to order test kits.
