NEWS: DfE issues guidance for Local Authorities on community testing

The Department for Education (DfE) recently published guidance on how Local Authorities in England should support education settings including early years and wraparound childcare to access community testing.

The guidance outlines some of the challenges faced by providers in accessing community testing sites and gives examples of how the LA might support staff in the early years sector with these.

PACEY continues to urge Government in England to provide regular home testing kits to all PVI providers including childminders, as Welsh Government recently committed to. Whilst DfE has said it is exploring how to offer these lateral flow tests to PVI providers in the same way they are providing them to schools and maintained nurseries, there are as yet no firm plans in place and we are extremely concerned by this delay. We will continue to update our members if this position changes.
