Today PACEY is proud to join over 700 organisations calling on Government in England to make a strategic investment in babies, children and young people in the upcoming autumn Spending Review.
#BuildBackChildhood is the latest phase of the #ChildrenAtTheHeart campaign organised by the National Children’s Bureau. A document published today and supported by a range of organisations including PACEY sets out a ‘vision’ for how tax-payers money could be allocated in the Spending Review.
The coalition calls for a spending review that:
- Levels up living standards for families;
- Explicitly invests in prevention and early intervention;
- Takes a rounded approach to children’s recovery;
- Gives every child the best start in life.

Helen Donohoe, Policy Advisor at PACEY comments:
“The spending review next week presents an opportunity for the government in England to finally demonstrate its commitment to ‘levelling up’ and supporting the many children who were impacted by the pandemic to achieve their full potential.
“PACEY continues to make the case for increased government investment in quality early education, childcare and wider family support services. The dedicated people who work in these areas are well-placed to make a positive impact in children’s lives. But without improved financial support and an effective strategy in place to ensure the sustainability of these important services, they will continue to face pressure and in the worst cases be driven to close, with valuable practitioners leaving for other jobs where they can earn more.”
