NEWS: PACEY calls for urgent change in COVID rules for childminders in England

PACEY is dismayed that the rule remains that childminders in England must close if they are are a household COVID-19 contact, when all other restrictions are removed. We are urgently raising the unfairness of this decision with the Department for Education and Health Security Agency (UKHSA) and for it to be reversed immediately.

NEWS: Removal of requirement to notify Ofsted of COVID cases in settings

Ofsted and the Department for Education (DfE) have announced that as of today (21 February), early years and childcare settings in England are no longer required to notify Ofsted (or a childminding agency that the provider is registered with) of confirmed COVID-19 cases in the setting.

Social Care Wales are hosting an early years and childcare conference and evening workshops, which this year focuses on ‘Well-being and resilience within the early years and childcare workforce’ / Mae Gofal Cymdeithasol Cymru yn cynnal cynhadledd blynyddoedd cynnar a gofal plant a gweithdai gyda'r nos, sydd eleni’n canolbwyntio ar ‘lesiant a gwytnwch o fewn gweithlu’r blynyddoedd cynnar a gofal plant’.

This week's DfE 'pulse survey' of early years and childcare settings in England is now open. This is the final survey of a series of weekly surveys over January and February 2022 which aim to find out more about how COVID-19 is affecting the childcare and early years sector in England.

NEWS: Join the launch of the final ‘Childcare During Covid’ report

PACEY is delighted to support the launch event of the Childcare During Covid research study on Wednesday 23 February from 4 - 5pm.  In this webinar, the research team launch its final report 'Essential, but undervalued: early years staff and families during the COVID-19 pandemic’ and discuss the challenges and opportunities for the early childhood education and care in England and Wales.

NEWS: Children’s Mental Health Week 2022 and supporting resources

The annual Children’s Mental Health Week organised by Place2Be runs from 7 February to Sunday 13 February 2022. During this week the DfE has published its 'State of the Nation' report outlining the effects of the pandemic on children and young people's mental health and wellbeing.

NEWS: Government announces 'Levelling Up' plans in White Paper

On 2 February the Government announced its ‘Levelling Up’ plans with the publication of its Levelling Up White Paper. The paper highlights 12 ‘Mission area’ policy objectives that Government hopes to achieve by 2030.
