NEWS: Concerns around accessing paediatric first aid training during lockdown in England

PACEY has made the Department for Education (DfE) aware of the challenges some childminders are facing in accessing face to face paediatric first aid (PFA) training during the current lockdown in England due to last minute course cancellations. Furthermore, that some members are also concerned about the transmission risks of attending face to face training even if it is regarded as an essential service.

We have asked the DfE to revert to their previous position during the first lockdown, namely to update the current EYFS disapplications to state that childminders as well as nurseries and pre-schools should use their best endeavours to maintain an up to date PFA certificate. This will recognise for some this may not be feasible during the current lockdown.

As soon as we know what DfE are planning to do in terms of an update to the disqualifications, we will let you know.
