NEWS: DfE extends training offer for workforce in England

This week the Department for Education announced £10 million additional funding towards training for the early years and childcare workforce in England, in the second phase of The Early Years Professional Development Programme (PDP).

The programme will be extended to around 50 new local authorities across England in 2021/22. It will benefit nurseries and preschools as well as childminders, reaching up to 2,000 practitioners and up to 32,000 children aged 2 to 4 years old.

The programme aims to improve outcomes for children, particularly the most disadvantaged through targeted training and professional development support for practitioners. The programme of training focuses on early language and mathematics for 2 to 4 year olds. It also includes a new focus on Personal, Social and Emotional Development through online professional development training developed by the Anna Freud Centre.

PACEY will share with members which local authorities are included in this offer when it is announced later in autumn.
