NEWS: Government launches campaign to encourage take-up of childcare support

The Government has launched a renewed marketing campaign backed by £1.2 million funding aiming to increase the number of families using government support for early education and childcare provision in England and Wales.

The campaign focuses on take-up of the Tax-Free Childcare offer, childcare support for Universal Credit claimants and the entitlement offers that 2, 3 and 4 year olds are eligible for in England and Wales.

The Government is encouraging providers to remind parents to check the Childcare Choices website to find out more about the different offers available to them.

Providers are encouraged to check they have everything in place to offer provision to families using these offers if you wish to (such as activating your Tax-Free Childcare account). You can also download a promotional poster to advertise to families in your setting that these services are available.

Further information for providers can be found in the below resources:

The Government has produced a Provider Information and Communication Toolkit (PowerPoint document) with more information for providers and template wording you can use.

In March 2022 HMRC funded a set of webinars hosted by Hempsall's around improving the take-up of Tax-Free Childcare. You can catch up on the webinar recording for providers on YouTube, find more information in Hempsall's briefing document and read the webinar Q&As
