Planning for Learning a huge success

Two enjoyable and informative `Planning for Learning’  training events were held by PACEY Cymru on Saturday 17 September and took place in Neath and Colwyn Bay.

Supported by funding through Welsh Government, the events focussed on the Foundation Phase Profile as a tool to support planning for and recording children’s learning and development, and provided the opportunity to reflect on practice in different themes of learning.

There were plenty of opportunities to share ideas and discuss practice, PACEY Cymru staff thoroughly enjoyed hearing examples of some of the good practice already taking place to support children’s learning and development.  We would like to thank everyone who gave up their time and contributed to discussions to ensure the events were a huge success with 100% of those who attended rated the training events as good or excellent overall.

“It’s given the information to be able to confidently plan, assess and evidence my practice” (PACEY Member, South Wales)

There is an increased focus on providing evidence on how children’s development and well-being is supported under CSSIW’s new inspection framework.  It is therefore, more important than ever for you to be able to demonstrate how you are observing, assessing, and recording children’s learning and development.

Building on the success of the training events, PACEY Cymru have now launched a shorter Planning for Learning Workshop and a Planning for Learning Webinar.  If you would like to find out more about the Webinar places available for this session please contact PACEY Cymru to book your place

The event also provided the opportunity to celebrate quality, and recognise the achievement of two childminders in north Wales, who have successfully completed PACEY Cymru’s Quality Comes Home Award.  It gave us great pleasure to congratulate Pam Nicholls and Paul Ironmonger on the commitment they have shown to providing quality childcare, evidencing their good practice and continuing professional development.  Based on the key principles from across Wales, including UNCRC and the Foundation Phase, the award, approved by Welsh Government, helps early years and childcare professionals to raise the standards and quality of their service whilst promoting their professionalism and personal development.  Congratulations again to Paul and Pam on your achievement they are pictured below receiving their awards from Joanne Morris, Quality and Training officer, PACEY Cymru.

If you would like to find out more about how to embed the ethos and principles of the Foundation Phase in your setting, PACEY Cymru offer a free Learning through Play Foundation Phase awareness webinar, supported by Welsh Government Funding.  The next webinar will be at 7pm on Thursday, 17th November 2016, find out more or book your place by contacting PACEY Cymru on 0845 880 1299 or
