Sharing books - how language supports literacy and literacy develops language skills

I wrote a blog in 2015 (was it really that long ago?) about the Read On. Get On campaign, which aims to support the development of children's language and literacy skills. This ambitious campaign aims to have every child having good language skills by 2020 and able to read well by 2025.

18 months on, I thought it would be useful to recap on the language skills young children need to develop to support literacy; and also how sharing books helps children to develop language and communication skills.
