BLOG: Stand out from the crowd on SearchChildcare

SearchChildcare, the childcare finder service, is completely free for everyone – parents and providers - and offers the perfect opportunity to help your business stand out without paying a penny! Three PACEY members, Jane, Carmela, and Claire share their experience of using SearchChildcare, and provide top tips on how to get your profile noticed. This first blog will focus on how to easily create a great bio.

While the saying goes you can’t get something for nothing, with SearchChildcare you can! It isn’t often that childcare providers are given free advertising opportunities, but when you are, it is definitely worth making the most of it. PACEY members are already reaping the benefits from updating their profile on SearchChildcare, and the extras you get as a member will help you stand out in your local community.

Find out more about our SearchChildcare competition, closing 31 January 2020.

Carmela - Personalisation is key

Carmela spent just a short time updating her profile and it has already made a world of difference. She says: “SearchChildcare is a really good place for parents to find what they need at a glance.” She reassures other members that setting up a profile “doesn’t take long at all, only about five to 10 minutes so it was really easy.”

Within her profile, Carmela has succinctly demonstrated her skillset and highlighted her professionalism by providing an overview of her qualifications. She’s also included extra details, which gives her profile more of a personal touch, such as examples of the types of activities she carries out in her setting and what her main aims as a childcare provider are. This gives parents a great insight into her ethos and what they could expect from leaving their child in her care.

Carmela’s top tip: spend just five minutes and make a real difference by adding that personal touch to your profile.

Jane – Highlight your Unique Selling Point

Jane says creating a SearchChildcare profile “is really easy to work through”, meaning it is stress-free to create a biography which stands out to parents. One way you can do this, she says is by highlighting all “your unique selling points.”

Jane does this by emphasising all of her amazing experience. For example, the fact that she has been graded ‘Outstanding’ by Ofsted in her most recent and previous inspections. Being able to showcase to parents achievements like this takes seconds to do and really helps her stand out from other practitioners.

Jane’s top tip: Be proactive about updating your profile and make sure it includes the most up to date information.

Claire - Show off your experience

Sometimes the idea of creating a good bio can be daunting, however, when creating her profile, Claire really liked the fact that SearchChildcare provides “useful prompts and tools” which made it easy for her to think about what information to include.

She uses her profile to really emphasise all of her experience by listing her continuous professional development activities. This not only shows prospective parents how qualified she is, but evidences her commitment to keeping up-to-date with all the latest research in the early years sector. Extra details like these are simple to add and can really help you to stand out.

Claire’s top tip:  Really think about it from the perspective of the parent and what they would like to know.
