Mathematics in the early years shows how everyone can include maths in their setting. The book gives practitioners and parents confidence to use mathematical language and show children that maths is part of everyday life.

The book has sections covering the two categories of maths early learning goals of the EYFS in England: numbers; and shape, space and measure.

Within the Foundation Phase framework for children’s learning for 3- to 7-year-olds in Wales, mathematical development is broken down into number; measures and money; shape, position and movement and handling data.

Our members’ top tips for integrating maths into everyday activities can also be found throughout this book, as well as a comprehensive list of further resources.

Written by early years maths expert Judith Dancer, and with a foreword by National Numeracy, it shows how both the early years curriculum, and the Welsh Foundation Phase can be easily integrated into daily activities.

Size 150mm x 230mm.

This guide is packed with lots of handy tips and ideas for planning maths into planned adult led activities but also helping to spot occasions to model maths words to children during their child initiated play and routines. It is amazing just how much we can support children's learning through our interactions with children indoors and out.
