Adapting and reopening

As part of our 'Working with Coronavirus' blog series, we spoke to different settings about their experiences during Coronavirus. While some practioners stayed open from March to key workers and vulnerable children, others have only recently reopened. Read their advice on what they have changed in order to keep their family and the children in their settings safe.

Flexible models - settling in new children

Taking on a new starter has historically been a very hands-on time for childcare providers; from meet and greets with the family in their homes, settling in sessions at the setting, and those first few days of welcoming the new child(ren), it’s not the easiest process to undertake during a global pandemic.

Thankfully, childcare providers from across the country have shared their experiences of safely and securely welcoming new families. From pre-booked visits and virtual tours, to digital paperwork and sharing photos, they’ve utilised technology to minimise the risk to everyone involved, whilst still making sure the child’s needs are being met.

If you’re looking for different ways to welcome new starters in to your setting, we hope you find some inspiration in the examples below.
