Family Support Worker
Have you ever wondered what a Family Support Worker is, what they do, how they help, how you access them?
A Family Support Worker is someone who works in partnership with a family to help them through a variety of difficulties. They usually work on a voluntary or consent basis, which means that the family chooses to work with them. Family Support Workers can be known by different titles such as Parent Support Worker, Early Help Worker, Family Intervention Officer, Family Liaison Worker or Home/School Support Officer.
They can work either for the Local Authority, a local charity such as Homestart or Family Lives, or employed by your child's school. Regardless of which agency they work for, the aims are to assess the needs of the family and to put in measures to support them with whatever difficulites they are facing.
