New funding to champion childminding

Thanks to a grant worth almost £400k, PACEY will be able to support many more registered childminders to consider how to make their small businesses more sustainable and whether they could deliver funded early education places.


Care Council for Wales becomes Social Care Wales

On the 1st April the Care Council for Wales became Social Care Wales.  It brings together the Care Council for Wales and the Social Services Improvement Agency, combining their functions for regulating, supporting and developing the workforce and using data and research to improve practice and service delivery.

Ofsted have published a mythbusting document about early years inspections to challenge the myths and confront any burning questions. 


EYFS effective from today

The latest Early Years Foundation Stage framework if effective from today. All providers in England will be inspected against the updated framework.


National Living Wage increases

Cabinet Secretary outlines progress of Childcare Offer for Wales

Communities and Children’s Secretary Carl Sargeant has outlined progress on the Childcare Offer for Wales including the confirmation that Caerphilly will be joining six other local authorities in testing the Childcare Offer for Wales from September 2017.  He also provided further details on the precise areas within those local authorities where the offer will be available.
