The London Mayor has recently published Early Years in London: A baseline and consultation. The Major wants to hear about the key challenges you face, examples of what works, and future plans.  The consultation closes on Friday 28th May 2018.


Drop in childminders continues as inspection judgements improve

Ofsted has published its termly statistics on childcare providers and inspections in England covering the period between 31 August 2017 and 31 December 2017. The statistics show another slight decrease in the number of registered childminders, and an increase in the number of non-domestic providers. Read the full results.

MPs call for more funding for 30 hours

An influential cross-party group of MPs in the House of Commons Treasury Committee has today published a unanimously-agreed report on childcare which makes a series of recommendations to the Government. PACEY submitted evidence to this inquiry on 30 hour scheme, and was quoted in the report.

New online course - Food Safety and Hygiene for EY settings

PACEY is delighted to launch its latest online course – PACEY level 2 food safety and hygiene in early years settings. This course has been designed to support early years practitioners in England and Wales when providing food for children in their setting.


CIW to publish childminders inspection reports

CIW will begin publishing childminders inspection reports in Wales on the CIW website from April 3rd 2018.


Latest statistics on 30 hours released

The Department for Education (DfE) has released the latest statistics on the number of 30 hours childcare codes issued and validated for the spring term 2018. 


New report shows emerging downward trend in qualification levels

The Education Policy Institute has published a comprehensive analysis of the early years workforce in England examining staff composition, qualifications, pay, and other trends and assessing the implications for the future of early years provision.


Childcare vouchers extended

The Government has agreed to delay the scrapping of the childcare voucher scheme for at least another six months. The scheme was due to be closed to new entrants from 6 April 2018. The change was made following a debate on the issue in the House of Commons during which MPs from all parties voiced opposition to the scheme’s closure.
