The Welsh Government has produced a non-statutory guide to remind practitioners of their responsibilities to safeguard children.   Mae Llywodraeth Cymru wedi llunio'r canllawiau anstatudol i atgoffa ymarferwyr o'u cyfrifoldebau i ddiogelu plant.

NEWS: PACEY receives funding to continue to support the sector in England through recovery

Thanks to funding from the Department for Education, PACEY will be able to provide more support and advice to childminders, pre-schools and nurseries in England as they recover from the pandemic and try to support more families to bring their children back to their early education place.

NEWS: Ofsted inspections in England to fully resume from January 2021

Ofsted have confirmed in the latest guidance for early years settings that routine inspections for registered early years provision in England will restart from January 2021. By this time, it is expected that the EYFS will be reinstated fully. The timing of routine inspections resuming will continue to be kept under review.


NEWS: Updates to early years guidance in England from 20 July announced

Today, the government have published detailed guidance to support early years settings and childcare providers to fully reopen from 20 July and for schools and colleges to fully reopen in September in England. 


NEWS: Research examines impact of the pandemic on the early years

As part of the latest of a series of impact briefs from the Sutton Trust states that "Nurseries, childminders and pre-schools are facing major financial uncertainty in the wake of the coronavirus pandemic, with many unsure as to whether they’ll still be able to operate next year." The brief looked at the immediate effects of the crisis on the early years and the children and families they serve. 


NEWS: Government responds to EYFS reforms consultation

Today, the Department for Education has released their response to the EYFS reforms consultation. The consultation initially opened in October to seek views on changes to the learning and development and assessment requirements as set out in the EYFS statutory framework in England.

First Minister Mark Drakeford has announced a start-up grant to support new businesses in Wales dealing with the severe impact of Coronavirus.  Mae Mark Drakeford y Prif Weinidog wedi cyhoeddi grant i gefnogi busnesau newydd yng Nghymru i ddelio gydag effaith ddifrifol y Coronafirws
