Physical Development

Parents play a vital role in their child’s development, physical development is all about the growth and development of the brain and body. It involves the child developing control of their muscles and physical coordination. So whether that’s learning to crawl, holding a spoon or balancing bricks in a tower, providing opportunities for children to develop this control is important.

Physical activity is a broad term referring to all bodily movement that uses energy. It can include activities which encourage physical development, like PE, indoor and outdoor play and active travel (e.g. walking, cycling, scooting) and daily routines.

PACEY’s worked alongside academics from the School of Sport, Exercise and Health Sciences at Loughborough University to produce a daily activity idea for parents and carers. Focussed on supporting your child's physical skills, you can find the activities in the free Play to Learn Facebook group.
